Keith Haney Earns Runner Up in Top Sportsman
9/4/2009
Topeka, KS

Keith Haney of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, is making his place known within the Top Sportsman ranks in the Mid-West.  This past weekend at Heartland Park not only moved him up within the Division 4 points chase, but he is now in 3rd for the Jegs Allstars competition and ran career best numbers to finish the event with a runner up accomplishment.

This is Haney's second final round appearance in the last three outings with his brand new Steve Schmidt powered Stroupe 2009 Pontiac GXP race car.

33 competitor's all vying for the Wally showed up to Heartland Parks Lucas Oil Division 5 annual event presented by Aeromotive.  Haney  finished up qualifying in the 2nd position posting a 6.742 at 206.20  miles per hour to start off the final eliminations.  Haney and his team
then made it through 5 solid rounds of competition with consistent lights and very close to his 6.72 dial in every round.

"We had such a fantastic weekend" notes Haney,  "Wally Stroupe came out to the track in addition to numerous phone calls from Steve Schmidt to make sure that the car was running in tip top shape.  Getting through first round is always tough, but getting these round wins under our belt and moving up to be tied for first place in the Division 4 Top Sportsman points chase is just icing on the cake.

"To add to all the great events for the weekend, we also had a surprise visitor that came and sat with us for quite a while as well.  John  Force was there supporting his two daughters and since funny car driver John Collins is a part of my crew, the two shared hours worth of stories and good times that go back in the history books.  Being included in all of that was extremely special and words are hard to be spoken about the mutual respect that these two have for each other and have shared throughout their racing careers."

This win moves Haney and his Suburban Chevrolet/Miami Auto Supercenter and Tigerflow Racing Sponsored GXP not only places them in a tie for 1st place within Top Sportsman Division 4 points series, but also places them in 3rd place for the 2010 Jeg's Allstars competition in  Joliet.

Haney adds "I would also like to throw out one additional thank you to Coan Transmissions.  They've been a very instrumental part of our teams continued success as well as to Monroe Guest and Marvin Yoder of Tigerflow Racing."

Haney's Suburban Chevrolet / Miami Auto Supercenter and Tigerflow Top Sportsman Team will be competing next at the Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event in Belle Rose, Louisiana.
