With roughly half of the 2010 racing season in the books, the BTE Power Rankings on ThisIsBracketRacing.com is beginning to take shape. This unique program hosted by the internet's racing instructional website ranks sportsman competitors regardless of class, category, and/or sanctioning body. BTE Power Points are earned by appearing in the final round of any major sportsman event listed within the Auto Meter Schedule on ThisIsBracketRacing.com. Qualifying events include all NHRA and IHRA national, divisional, sportsman national, and ET Finals events, as well as any bracket-style event in North America that pays $5,000 or more to win.

Over 700 competitors throughout North America have earned BTE Power Points thus far in 2010, and the competition is fierce throughout the standings. At the midway point of the 2010 season, 2-time Million Dollar Race winner Gary Williams leads the way with a score of 79. Williams, one of the most recognizable big dollar bracket racers in the country, has earned his mid-season total on the strength of several final round finishes in bracket competition. He started his season by winning back-to-back $20,000 races in Montgomery, AL back in February, then split the $25,000 grand prize at the Thunder Valley Bracket Challenge with car owner Dwayne Roberts (the two were driving the same car and were paired in the final round). He added a $10,000 triumph at the Ultimate 64 Shootout, and was runner-up in the American Race Cars opener at the JEGS U.S. Open Bracket Championships.

With his 79 point score, Williams enjoys a 14 point lead over another pair of big dollar bracket racing specialists, John Labbous, Jr. and Tommy Plott. Labbous, a top ten finisher in the 2009 BTE Power Rankings, dominated the inaugural K&N Spring Fling 20's at Bristol Dragway (Winning the first three days of competition). Plott has compiled his 65 point score with a variety of big dollar bracket wins throughout the Southeast and Carolina's.
Fourth place currently belongs to 3-time IHRA World Champion Steve Furr, who has already tallied 59 Power Points in 2010. In contrast to the top three points earners (who have earned all of their Power Points in big dollar bracket competition), Furr has earned each of his points in NHRA and IHRA competition with a myriad of final round appearances in Top Dragster, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Rod. To date, Furr has appeared in 5 national event finals in 2010 (Winning 4), in addition to 6 divisional event finals.
Another familiar face in the BTE Power Rankings is Jason Lynch, who finished in the top 10 in 2009. Lynch currently holds the fifth position in the 2010 standings with 53 Power Points, each earned at big dollar bracket events.
Joe Santangelo is the highest ranking bottom bulb racer thus far in 2010, earning 52 points in NHRA Stock and Super Stock competition to hold down the sixth position. The remainder of the current top ten include Slate Cummings (7th with 46), ThisIsBracketRacing.com's own Luke Bogacki (8th with 41), Brad Plourd, Todd Ewing, and Ray Miller III (Each with 39).
At season's end, the top finisher in the BTE Power Rankings on ThisIsBracketRacing.com will once again earn a complete BTE Top Dragster or Top Sportsman Powerglide Transmission. The overall champion will also take home a commemorative trophy, decals, and an annual subscription to ThisIsBracketRacing.com as they join 2009 champion Dan Fletcher as BTE Power Rankings Champions.
The 2010 Runner-Up will earn a complimentary BTE Torque Converter of their choice.
In addition to the overall champion and runner-up, each of the top ten finishers in the 2010 Power Rankings on ThisIsBracketRacing.com will earn a great prize from supporting sponsors. The 3rd-10th points finishers will each get their choice of remaining prizes from the ThisIsBracketRacing.com prize pool (3rd will get first choice, then 4th will choose from the remaining prizes, and so on). Each top ten finisher will also receive an annual subscription to ThisIsBracketRacing.com, a case of K&N Oil Filters, and unique "Top Ten"? decals. Prizes include:
