2017 DRR Ultimate Series Returns - Event #2 only 30 Days Away
March couldn't have gotten here any quicker for the racers who set their sites on the 2017 DRR Ultimate Series Championship and the $125,000 in Points Fund & Prizes that await the Top 100 Points finishers with an American Race Cars built complete rolling dragster that goes to the overall champion.
With over 240 entrants from 23 states and 2 countries, the DRR Ultimate Series kicked off at Huntsville Dragway on Thursday March 23rd with the "New" for for 2017 Champ's Performance FTI Warm-Up Race in which Million Dollar Man Jeff Verdi took home top honors.
Friday's BRODIX $20K was completed in full with Bo "Pool Boy" Boatner taking top honors over Alan Whickell.
With beautiful weather Friday evening the decision was made to start Sunday's Yukon Gear & Axle $20K in order to help scheduling with the anticipated Saturday rain and to complete on Sunday with time permitting.
Saturday's Oakley Motorsports saw beautiful morning and mid day weather and the $50k was deep into 2nd round with only around 40 pair of cars remaining about 3:30 pm when the rains came and finished the day.
Anticipating what looked to be a great Sunday forecast of only 10 percent chance of showers, the weather forecast seemed to be cooperating as it had all weekend. But Sunday morning only provided irritating drizzle and ultimately a down pour around 12:30 pm which put a conclusion on the first event of 2017.
Points were calculated for rounds won on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. With only 1 completed race day, the points for year remain wide open for those racers who were unable to attend the March event.
Event number 2 is scheduled for June 23-25th with the Champ's FTI Warm-Up race on Thursday the 22nd.
