Wheatcrafts to Debut Top Sportsman Demon at PRI
When Chris Wheatcraft and his wife, Charli came up with the idea to build this one of a kind Top Sportsman beast, Chris wanted a car from the year he was born, 1971. Anyone that knows the Wheatcraft family knows there is no option other than MOPAR's. Having that in mind, Chris chose to go with the Demon because this model was only offered in 71 and 72.
Appropriately this great looking Chrysler Hot Rod will be showcased at the Indy Cylinder Head booth at PRI December 7-9th. Make sure you stop by and check it at at booth #3713.
For the 2018 racing season, Chris will be piloting this 1971 Dodge Demon built by Advanced Chassis in Antwerp, Ohio. It is a 25.1E Top Sportsman Chassis, showcasing a lot of trick features designed and fabricated by Dan Bowers and his team in their Northwest Ohio facility including their Pro Series Four-Link and Anti-Roll suspension, and fabricated 9" housing. Covering the metallic lollipop red powder coated frame is a 1971 Andy McCoy Race Cars composite body which has been painted and airbrushed to the max by Ron Leach at Ron's Custom Paint and Auto Body in West Chester, Ohio.
Chris went with an INDY Cylinder Heads 532 cubic inch Big Block MOPAR engine for the car which will be campaigned at Top Sportsman, 4.50/4.70 index, and Outlaw Quick 8 events. A Winberg Crankshaft, GRP Connecting Rods, Diamond Pistons, Comp Cam, Jesel Keyway Lifters, Trends Pins and Push rods are housed within the INDY Block and Predator Heads. Atop this monster power plant is an APD Blow Thru Carburetor that is fed from an F-3R Procharger.
Giving power to this machine is an MSD Digital 7 ignition and a front drive distributor. Koni electric shocks along with their digital shock controller will be aiding the Strange front struts and Hoosier Tires on all four corners. In the cockpit, Chris implemented the help of Blake and Ryan Richardson of RBZ Billet who together, designed the custom Pentastar steering wheel. RacePak's IQ3 dash and Digital Delay Mega 475 Delay Box along with their digital dial boards finish off the all carbon fiber interior.
Chris and Charli would like to thank the following individuals and companies for their help and support in making this car a reality including Dan Bowers and the crew at Advanced Chassis, Ron Leach at Ron's Custom Paint and Auto Body, Hoosier Racing Tire, Indy Cylinder Heads, Extreme Apparel, Wizard Cooling, Kammer Racing Engines, RBZ Billet, Mcilvain Race Cars, Holeshot Wheels, and Horsepower Sales.
