9th Annual Thanksgiving Weekend Bracket Bash
Edinburg, TX – The longest running Texas Thanksgiving race returns to
Edinburg International Racetrack on November 26. With over $30,000.00 on
the line, the event annually attracts drivers from San Antonio, Houston,
Austin, Laredo, and Corpus Christi. An added bonus is the National
Dragster and Jr. Drag Racing League Challenge held on Sunday November 28.
“One of the advantages of being NHRA’s southern-most drag strip in the
continental United States is the short winters,” proclaimed track manger
Julio Cantu. “Usually the weather during Thanksgiving is in the eighties
here in South Texas.”
Another unique feature to the event is it gives drivers a chance to
qualify for the 2011 NHRA 1/8-mile Bracket Finals. A driver must enter at
least two of the three Summit Racing Equipment points races over the
weekend. All race winners also get qualified for The King of the Track
event in December.
“This race is a points meet for our local drivers in The Impact Racing
Bracket Series,” said Cantu. “It is also the first race for next year’s
Bracket Finals as well as Race of Champion points.”
Edinburg International Racetrack is located 3 hours South of San Antonio
and 5 hours Southwest of Houston. The facility recently updated to a
Compulink timing system featuring cross-talk. Drivers wishing to enter
the special High Roller Race on Saturday November 27 can contact the track
at www.edinburgracetrack.com or (956) 318-0355.
