2016 was a great year for two racers from the Southern Indiana region known as Evansville, IN, JB Strassweg and Mark McDonald both won Wally’s in ’16, along with Top 5 Finishes in the Division and Mark finishing Top Ten in the World Championship. The book that these two collectively are writing is long, however, this chapter known as 2016 has 2 more parts to be written and the first starts this week at Summit Motorsports Park.
“I am leading the Top Dragster points right now, you would think that would let you sleep a little better at night, unfortunately not the case. We have been working hard to make the car as consistent as we can, let the car do the work. ’16 was great, I want to place a bow on it by being a JEGS All-Star.” Said Strassweg
The Top Sportsman side of this is just as stressful, as there are 4 drivers that are in blasting range to leave the last NHRA North Central Event as the JEGS All-Star. Drivers that are a who’s who in Division 3, Mick Synder reigning Champ, Jerry Albert (former champ and All-Star) and the ultra quick Lester Johnson past JEGS All-Star representative for Division 3.
“I need to focus, make solid consistent passes and not beat myself. The car knows how to win, this old mustang won a lot of rounds last year and money, I want to be the Division 3 representative for Top Sportsman. I need to do my job this weekend, and eat some ice-cream,” smiled McDonald.
