After 13 years developing, growing, and improving American Race Cars together, proprietors Mark Horton and Travis Colangelo are excited to announce some changes to the structure of the successful chassis building business.

Co-owner Mark Horton has decided to take a step back, relax a little bit more, and get back on the race track himself.  As a result, he is passing the day-to-day activities of the business to his longtime partner Travis Colangelo.

Mark, a former IHRA World Champion in his own right, has been away from the track for a while and still plans to be a part of American Race Cars, just from more of a sales aspect so that he can get back to racing himself.  He will continue to be at Travis’ side to give input on the direction of the company and to see the transfer to Travis go smoothly and efficiently.

“To say that I’m excited is an understatement,” Colangelo said.  “But in reality, very little will change in terms of our customer experience or the quality of race cars that we’re sending out the door.  Mark and I have worked to build this business into what it is – I’m obviously biased, but I think we build the best dragsters in sportsman drag racing – and that’s a model that we’ll continue.  Same quality products, same great customer service; the same people doing the same jobs.”

American Race Cars is also excited to announce bringing on more staff as Shelley Elrod will assist in handling the daily operations directly under Colangelo.  Together, the staff looks forward to the future of American Race Cars, seeing the company continue to grow and its customers continue to prosper.

In its 13 years of business, American Race Cars has built more than 500 competition vehicles. The staff at American Race Cars is proud of every chassis that has left the shop, and thankful for the customers who have purchased them.  Some of the winningest American Race Cars customers include Jeff Strickland, Steve Furr, Luke Bogacki, Sherman Adcock, Edmond Richardson, and many more.

Travis Colangelo expressed that “Exciting things are coming for the valued customers we have now and if you are thinking about purchasing a new car, please give us a call.  You won’t be disappointed.”
