Las Vegas, NV
Team Silver Bullet driver Ryan Mangus would score a sensational victory at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 7 event in Las Vegas.
Competing in both the Stock and Super Street class, Mangus would claim victory behind the wheel of Phil Unruh's Super Street class Chevrolet Cobalt. Mangus would have an elapsed time of 11.049 seconds at 156.84mph to defeat Mel Leforbes and claim the win. Mangus would also go rounds in the Stock class, ending his effort with a fourth-round finish to cap off a successful weekend.
An ecstatic Mangus was happy to come away with the trophy. "After our runner-up at Pomona, our two Phoenix weekends didn't go to plan so this is a great way to bounce back," said Mangus. What makes the win even sweeter is that Mangus hadn't originally planned on racing in two classes. "When I got here, I didn't even know I'd be racing in the Super Street class. It was really a last minute deal that came together Friday night and we never even ran the car until race day. But I'd like to thank Phil Unruh for making it happen. This was one of the coolest cars I've ever driven and putting it in victory lane was the perfect way to finish the weekend."
With the win, Mangus will carry momentum into his next event when he returns to action on his home track for the NHRA Summit Series season opener at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, California on April 28 - 29.
