Sunday's race action at Abilene Dragstrip was cut short due to rain.  With several rain delays and several gallons of diesel ran through not one but two jet dryers, promoters Chris Barker and Danny Sons were determined to get the racers a points claim in the division despite the weather and low car count with a 90% chance of rain.

The day started with MGM awards for best engineered and best appearing car.
Rick Cotham's (Artesia, NM) beautiful 67 Camaro

Rick Cotham

was judged best appearing and Kenny Sheppard's new Undercover dragster was awarded best engineered.

  Kenny is from Abilene Texas.

In Race Tech Jr Dragster, Nicole Ellis was the closest to the dial for the win.
With several rain delays on a day when most tracks and promoters wouldn't have attempted to race, the BTE/Citgo Series presented by Brodix was on.  The action finally had to be ended with eight cars left in S/Pro and six cars in Sportsman.  There were two racers left in Jr Dragster also.

The money was split evenly with the drivers remaining. BTE / Citgo Points Racers had the option of claiming points until fifth round.  Race promoter Danny Sons stated "We did everything in our power to complete this event.  We ran not one, but two jet driers, but it just wasn't in the cards today.  I wanted to try to make it happen for all the racers who braved a 80% rain chance and supported us".
The next BTE/Citgo event, The Rons Fuel Injection Desert Bracket Classic Warm Up, is next weekend at Tucson, AZ.  For more information call 615-643-8278.
