Dion Vickers Collects First Wally at Bunker Hill NHRA Jegs Super Quick

Dion Vickers collected his first NHRA Wally trophy and his first Jegs Super Quick Series victory as the series made its seventh stop in the 2009 season at Bunker Hill Dragstrip Saturday night (Aug. 1).
 
Vickers had double entered the track’s bonus Summer Sizzle Twin $25’s Super Pro category as well.  He had 12 round wins on Saturday winning five rounds in Super Quick, as well as, being in the final 10 cars in two Super Pro brackets before a split due to rain.  Sunday Vickers was again double entered in Super Pro which he won with one entry and lost in the third round with his second Super Pro entry for an overall astonishing weekend record of 21-1.

Dion Vickers collected his first Jegs Super Quick Wally from Steve Daniels, Bunker Hill track operator.

Vickers met Glenn Yancey in the Jegs Super Quick final and held onto his starting line advantage with a 4.905 on his 4.89 dial-in forcing Yancey to breakout with a 4.657 on his 4.67 dial-in.  Larry Shupperd at the wheel of Jerry Powell’s Medicine Man qualified on the pole and was a semi-finalist along with Craig Sullivan who gained ground on Christopher Carrico and James Monroe in the point chase.

 Next stop on the 10-race 2009 NHRA Jegs Super Quick Series will be Saturday, Aug. 15 at Chandler Motorsports Park near Evansville, Ind.
