Ace Ohio Events once again hosted another sold out event at Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio where 400 entries staged up for 4 big days of racing action.
Zach Smith won the Thursday Warm up $5k for his first win in the 2020 American Shorty Dragster, This is Zach’s first full season in a big car. He faced Tyler Haleen in the finals both guys were teen on the tree and dead on but Zach pulled it off.
Friday the Moser Engineering $20k had Chase McKay over Ed Jirousek. Chase wheeled his beautiful Camaro thru 400 cars to lock up the first big check of the weekend. AJ Buchanan was part of the semi-final round where he went -008 red to Chase.
The American Race Cars Dragster Shootout was also contested where Jerry Hollingsworth beat Hunter Patton in the finals.
Jerry drives a 99 Klopfistien Race Car and was super excited to race for the new chassis. Jerry was .002 on the tree while Patton missed it a little with a .038 light. SO it was smooth sailing at the finish line as Jerry dropped to a 5.20 on a 5.17 dial.
Vintage Race Trailer $20k Saturday saw Hunter Patton, Steve Holowiecki and Rob Engleman facing off after each one had already had the bye run thru the day. Holowiecki and Engleman had a small delay in the final while Holowiecki was patiently waiting on Engleman to fire up. He couldn’t get the car to stay running so it was Holowiecki and Patton in the final. Holowiecki’s chassis was on repeat all night he finished the night with a dead on 4.69 but Patton was -006 red at the start so it was all over from there.
Saturday $5k high rollers race for all the competitions that were not in the main race. In this event Patrick Forster, Curtis Allen, Austin Lena, and Curt Valtman competed for the final purse. Allen beat Lenz after Lenz went -008 red while Forester took out Valtman. Forester who usually competes on the PDRA elite top dragster secure was seeing the finishing line nicely at the slowed speed of 4.66 where he scooped up his first big check in a few years.
On the final day it was an all door car semi final where Chris Bear, Bob Wingfield, Chad May and Randy Biddle Sr. Faced off for the last $20k of the weekend.
The GEM Construction Equipment 20k Sunday saw Chris Bear defeat Chad May after May was -004 red and then Randy Biddle defeated Bob Wingfield when Bob missed the tree and became mathematically ineligible. Bear defeated Biddle in the finals when Biddle had a little car issues and went red.
