Milan Loses Office in Fire!

Milan, MI - Milan Dragway suffered a loss. The double wide office trailer located at the track was up in flames. Milan Fire responded when a local road commission employee and also a bus driver called in and reported the fire.

Veteran driver John Horton died following a racing accident Sunday, September 19 at Milan Dragway.

Milan, MI - Veteran driver John Horton died following a racing accident Sunday, September 19 at Milan Dragway.
The Top Dragster Horton was driving crossed the finish line at 160 mph. Skid marks, beginning near the finish line, and continuing down track a distance of 524 feet, caused Horton to lose control and the car to roll numerous times. Med Flight and Milan Fire Department responded to the accident and Horton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Horton, 30, of Walbridge, Ohio, finished 11th in the Hooters/IHRA Top Dragster championship in 2003 and was the Division 3 Top Dragster champion last season.
“John was not only a good racer but a good friend to many at the track and will be missed by all,” said Deneen Baxter, Events Coordinator for Milan Dragway. The Kapolka’s and Baxter’s of Milan Dragway extend their deepest sympathies.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

Allison earns first career Top Fuel win during IHRA Motor City Nationals

MIlan, MI - Louie Allison earned his first career Top Fuel victory during IHRA's Second Annual Motor City Nationals presented by the Milan News Leader and Saline Reporter at Milan Dragway. Allison, of Denver, Colo., covered the quarter-mile in 4.924 seconds at 286.32 mph to defeat "Doc" John Sipple in the final round.
